What's amazing to me is that I recognize two of those buildings as still being there! 100 years later and we're walking all over history without even thinking about it. Thanks so much for this blog -- it is AMAZING!

Notice the large frame building with the veranda porch facing Willamette st just to the right of the Railroad depot. That is the Lane hotel building. Also the large two story building on the far side of the intersection is the Carpenter building. (Union hall). Both buildings are still in use. (2012)

Note that the Oregon Electric Station has not yet been built. It arrives soon after this photo just south of the SP depot.
