Passport to the Past
Peer inside a covered wagon, touch a gold miner’s tools, see an airplane with three wings, or catch a glimpse of animal life on Oregon’s oldest filbert farm. Look for George the Eagle, try your hand at archeology and marvel at toys, tools, and hundreds of artifacts on display at 14 area historical museums.
All of these adventures and much, much more are possible without even leaving Lane County! Starting April 1, 2008, it’s all waiting for you and your family at Lane County’s participating museums. Get your free Passport to the Past, visit at least 5 of your local historical museums, answer challenge
questions, and have your passport stamped.
Enter your stamped passport sheet at one of the participating museums by October 31, 2008 to be eligible to win a host of prizes, including the grand prize of tickets for four on a Battle Sail (with fighting pirates!) on the Lady Washington or Hawaiian Chieftan during the 2009 Rose Parade festivities in Portland (Memorial Day weekend and first week in June).
Here is how the Passport to the Past program works:
Beginning on April 1, 2008, pick up your free passport at any participating museum, the Willamalane Recreation Center or print out the online version below. Visit the museums listed in the passport and complete a set of challenge questions at each museum. Then get your passport stamped. Visit at least 5 of the 14 museums and become eligible for a drawing for prizes, including the grand prize of a Battle Sail on the Lady Washington or the Hawaiian Chieftan. Bring or mail your completed passport to any of the participating museums by October 31, 2008. Prize drawings will be held on November 10, 2008 at an area school with the most participants. You need not be present to win.
Enjoy your visit to Lane County’s great historical museums!
